Chemical companies, employing gene scientists, have long been fiddling with seeds to produce resistance to pests and a synergy with certain manufactured chemicals to ensure optimal yield. What does this mean? For those who don't like complicated concepts, it means that the food we eat has been changed so that it responds to chemicals, not nature. Who needs nature any longer? Not Monsanto, Syngenta or Dupont. McDonalds-chomping Americans don't have a clue that their bodies become hosts to harmful GM (genetically modified) proteins: "The gene inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function. This means that long after we stop eating GMOs, we may still have potentially harmful GM proteins produced continuously inside of us. Put more plainly, eating a corn chip produced from Bt corn might transform our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories, possibly for the rest of our lives."
This is written by Jeffrey M. Smith, author of the famous book Seeds of Deception (read full article here). The food is designed to produce toxins. And now, we learn, to keep producing them. Europeans have refused GMOs, but Americans continue to get them. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine is calling for a moratorium on GMO foods as rats, sheep, cows and chickens are dying the world over from eating them. All this begs the question: Is it that we're slow to catch on here, or is it that Americans are an experimental population intended to decline thanks to GMOs? Our tastes for food that we do not prepare at home, that we buy from profit-seeking chains, that we believe to fit into our "rushed lives,"  have been created by advertising -- with billions spent on separating us from nature. "Not a single human clinical trial on GMOs has been published," Smith reminds us.
It's time to take choice-making into our own hands. Look for organic or non-GMO! Remember that laziness or "it's just this once" conditions your body into a factory. The more we concede, the more we state our willingness to become the experiment.
