Going the way of the Edsel is ... literacy. ("What's that?" most Americans might ask.) Columnist Chris Hedges put out a very pithy ("what's that?") essay in November 2008 entitled "America the Illiterate," in which he made the point that the country is not divided along liberal or conservative lines ... the real division is literacy.
Some Americans still know how to read, and use this skill to collect information from which they create opinions and further develop their critical thinking and observations. But most Americans prefer happy illusions (fed to them by a gigantic media propaganda machine) over knowledge or the arduous task of building knowledge. Says Hedges: "We confuse how we feel with knowledge."
Awash in a sea of images and slogans, the illiterate like to frequent fast-food restaurants where they can order from pictures rather than menus. They are also hostages to brands. Advertising leads them to believe they are deserving, invincible, superior ... "All we have to do is visualize what we want, believe in ourselves and summon those hidden inner resources, whether divine or national, that make the world confrm to our desires. Reality is never an impediment to our advancement." Hedges calls it a "post-literate world" in which ideas with grist are replaced with entertainment, unmooring huge segments of the population from reality. The most famous person of the 18th century was Voltaire ("Huh? Who's he?") ... the most famous person today is Mickey Mouse. To read the full essay (if you can), click here.
First the Liberty, Now the Dignity
Let it be known that in the month of December 2008, Israel rammed the Dignity, a small vessel carrying former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, two surgeons, a pediatrician, and three tons of hospital supplies to help the wounded people of Gaza. From her journal, McKinney writes, "There were no other ships or boats around us and night descended upon us all rather quickly. It was the darkest black and suddenly, out of nowhere, came searchlights disturbing our peace. The searchlights stayed with us for about half an hour or so. We knew they were Israeli ships. Who else would they be? They were fast, and they would come close and then drop back. And then, they'd come close again ... The cat and mouse game went on for at least one half hour. What were they doing? And why?
"Calm again. Black sky, black sea. Peace. And then, at that very moment, when all seemed right, out of nowhere we were rammed and rammed again and rammed again the last one throwing me off the couch, sending all our food up in the air; and all the plastic bags and tubs -- evidence of sea sickness among the crew and passengers -- flew all over the cabin and all over us. We'd been rammed by the Israelis. How did we know? Because they called us on the phone afterwards to tell us that we were engaging in subversive, terroristic activity. And if that if we didn't turn around right then and return to Larnaca, Cyprus, we would be fired upon. We quickly grabbed our lifevests and put them on. Then the captain announced that the boat was taking on water ... I remembered my father's parting words, "You all will be sitting ducks." Just like the U.S.S. Liberty." Watch McKinney's account to CNN below and read full story here.

Legendary Mechanics
Let's see ... what year is this? 2009, right? Well, how about the amazing fact that this VERY OLD issue of Popular Mechanics (March 2005) was found in December 2008 in mint condition in a waiting room of Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California, just BEGGING to be read. Now is that weird or not? Why would a 4-year-old magazine (not dog-eared in the least) be found in a hospital waiting room, with a cover story titled "Debunking 9/11 Lies" ... and the tag line, "A growing chorus of fringe groups says a U.S. plot brought down the towers. After an in-depth investigation, PM answers with the truth." And inside, just in case you missed this scintillating publication, "The Lies Are Out There" (editorial by James Meigs): '"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion," the great Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York was fond of saying. "He is not entitled to his own facts."' Oy, vey, Mr. Meigs! Ve can't haff our own facts ... only yours? Perhaps it occurs to you too, dear reader, that this issue is being mailed out all over the country -- month after month -- to remain visible ... because of ALL THOSE CONSPIRACY PESTS who keep insisting that steel towers can't do what we saw on TV eight years ago unless ... For the full "in-depth" Special Report by the Hearst Corporation, click here. (Please note: The Pop Mechanics feature was put together by 25-year-old Benjamin Chertoff, who has dodged the little matter of his being related to Homeland Security's Michael Chertoff ... a minor detail, but oh-so-telling to the rest of us.)
American Stonehenge Defiled
Well, folks, graffiti has made it from subway cars to the Georgia Guidestones. And what are the Georgia Guidestones? you ask. In 1979, a mysterious stranger using the alias R.C. Christian built this occult monument in honor of "Common Sense" pamphleteer and revolutionary Thomas Paine (so he said). Ten edicts inscribed on the stones in eight languages seem to neatly cap the New World Order philosophies ... calling for drastic population reduction (down to a mere 500 million) and a one-world language, justice system and government. (Though the average Joe might not find the stones' guidance anything to worry about, it takes a little training to read between the lines.) Blatantly recognizable is the United Nations' Agenda 21 program -- global socialism masked as environmental sustainability. Edict #7: Avoid petty laws and useless officials. (Sounds great, but in whose opinion??) The vandal(s) wrote: Death to the Globalist, No North American Union, You Will Not Succeed, Jesus Will Beat U Satanist, and F-You,Read This Rockefeller.
Bishop Richard Williamson has taken up the Truth Challenge. Listen to this grave call to wake the people up so they can steer themselves away from the pending police state and jaws of enslavement. "If the people swallow the lies, they will be enslaved. ... At the moment, the whole world is being told lies ... the most outstanding global lie of recent times is 9/11, and that's a classic example of an enslaving lie." Listen to the details he knows about 9/11 ... (audio link here) ... and his concluding, "Lies, lies, lies. Lies or truth. Even before God is in question -- is truth. Does there exist truth? Is there proof?" Thank you Bishop Williamson, for your forthrightness, and we would posit that truth is derived from an examination of facts ... facts about steel, facts about aeroplanes, facts about the way the physical world is put together. See "911 Mysteries" for the facts!
